OIML stands for "Organisation Internationale de Métrologie Légale", which is French for "International Organization of Legal Metrology". OIML calibration weights are weights that meet the standards set by the OIML. For more information on OIML standards, please see the information below, OMIL Commercial Weights.

The difference between F1 and M2 calibration weights:

F1 calibration weights and the more economical M2 class weights differ in accuracy and application.

The F1 weights have much stricter tolerances, making them suitable for high-precision calibration in laboratories and scientific environments.

M2 weights, with higher permissible tolerances, are used in industrial and commercial settings where extreme precision is not required.

For example, a 1kg F1 weight has a tolerance of ±5 mg, whereas a 1kg M2 weight has a tolerance of ±500 mg.

This means F1 weights ensure significantly higher accuracy, making them ideal for calibrating sensitive analytical balances, while M2 weights are better suited for verifying general-purpose scales.
